The memory card provides the camera with a storage area where picture and video files can be stored. It functions very much like the hard drive in your computer.

In fact the memory card (or the camera with memory card), will look just like a removable drive to your computer through the USB cable.

You can transfer pictures using either automatic software or manually by using one of Windows Copy functions.

Some cameras come with computer software that will do it. But many people prefer to contol the process themselves.

Good Luck

The same thing the film does in a film camera. It stores your images until you take them out for processing.

You can transfer the photos to your computer in a couple different ways. Your camera should have come with a USB cable for direct transfer. Your computer may even automatically open a wizard that will talk you through the transfer of the photos. It's really easy, but you do need to leave your camera on.

Many people opt for a photo transfer that doesn't wear out your camera's batteries. All you need is a card reader. Then you check your computer's periforal drives, and when you find it, open and copy the pictures to your hard drive.

the memory store the photos as files (jpg, tiff, raw). Yes you can use any USB card reader to transfer your phots/file from or to that memory card.
