Cameras - March 2007

I am considering the Nikon D200 but it is very expensive. With it, I can get the 18 - 200mm lens that would cover the vast majority of my needs. Anybody else own this camera/lens combination? If so, what do you think about it? Is it worth the money? Any other recommendations for cameras that will do the same thing and cost a little less? Thanks.

Please tell me who is an acceptable reference for test results.

If the 18-200 lens is to be "disregarded," please tell me why the camera dealers can not keep them in stock?

Please note that I said, "...the Nikon 18-200 VR lens. Okay, it's not the world's PERFECT lens, but it is not too shabby."

I'd MUCH rather use the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR lens and I would spend the $1,550 to buy it. It would be the perfect mate to my 17-55 f/2.8 lens. I might even spend $1,600 for the light grey issue, just so all the Canon users in the world would think I was cool.

I don't want to come off as a snob and tell everyone - many of whom are struggling to meet the cost of a $500 camera - that this is what they must buy. I try to answer their question appropriately. If someone asks what's a "10-20X zoom" to use on a D40, I would not recommend the prime lens that you suggest. I would not suggest the 4X zoom that you suggest. This is not answering the question.

I have a Nikon coolpixL4. It's just a regular everyday digital camera. Anyway, when I take a picture it almost always comes out blurry. Is there something I need to change on my settings? Thanks for any help you can give.

I'm trying to decide which of the two to get. I was interested in an SLR camera, but I read a review somewhere that said that the Powershot was almost as good as the Rebel, and it's cheaper.

I am looking for a very powerful digi cam which can let me add description or metadata to the photos as I take them. For example: I take a picture of Eiffel Tower and After that I say Eiffel Tower is in Paris, France, then it converts that voice into data and associates it with the photo.

I just bought a Canon Rebel EOS Digital XTi camera (newbie to photography) which came with a Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2 and a Tamron AF 28-80mm F/3.5-5.6 Aspherical lens. I am taking a trip to Scotland and want to a have a universal lens and I don't know if the one I have will work well enough (the AF28-80mm). I don't know what I should get and I don't want to spend a lot either. Any ideas? I plan on taking a lot of landscape photos, castles etc.

I have canon 6.0 mega pixels..
what happen is that i was going to upload the pictures in my computer but the scanner could read them.. Then i try with cables but the something. So i try to see the pictures in the camera but it keeps telling memory car error... so what does that mean the memory doesn't work or can it be fixed???

I lost the cd that came with my camera and it wont work if i just hook the camera up to the usb , There's computers at school that are more modern than mine with the slot on the side of the monitor, im not sure exactly what the slot on side the computer is for but I see them inserting some type of chip and I was wondering if I could purchase somethin like that and download (or upload, whichever one) the pictures at school. I live here in Honduras and father's day is celebrated on March 19th, so i would like a decent digital camera as a present but would like someting around 3500-4000 lempiras( $ 150-200) so any suggestion would be nice since almost any tipe can be found here but at much larger price, not really exchange rate, and wouldn't want to overpay in local currency(lempiras)
