One of the biggest benefits to SLRs and DSLRs is the ability to interchange lenses. Although manufacturers and retailers sell "kits" which include a lens, the "kit" lens is usually an inferior optic! Snapshooters probably wouldn't notice the difference, but if you want the best quality images I'd choose my lenses very carefully!

While you may want to get a new camera body in a few years, as technology improves, you will re-use lenses for years and years!

camera body only means that you are only buying the body without the lens, which is pretty much useless unless u have a spare lens. well for d80 vs xti, that pretty much depends on you, do you prefer large bulky body or a small and compact body. personally I'll go for the xti cause it got a better sensor but this debate can go on forever.

Basically it is kind of like it sounds you get the body with out any lenses are filters of any kind. Then you have to buy those seperate.

camera body only for the Nikon D-80includes instruction manual...battery .. battery charger .. camera strap...computer cables...tv as well.... Picture Project for managing your images....... warranty card

That means the lens is not included.

No lenses, they have to be bought separately!
