I'd like to merge 6 consecutive scenic pics and thought canon photorecord was the one but I can't even do what I've done there before - been a while! Can't remember where I saw an option for this either. I'd prefer a freeware/shareware program. Thankyou!

Have an old Compaq deskpro with Windows 2000 Professional, and bootup time has gone from 5 minutes to over 12 minutes.

I regularly use Ccleaner, dskchk, Disk Cleanup and Disk Defrag. I've even uninstalled lots of software too (such as Windows Media Player, Baseline Security, Java Console, etc.) all to no avail.

So I think the problem lies with all the programs I rarely use that are starting on bootup, such as the BT Yahoo Browser, BT Helpdesk, BT Communicator with Instant Messenger, etc.

Is there a way I can remove these from starting up automatically, but leave them for a manual startup when needed?

Or am I on the wrong trail, and I should do something else? (Other than buy a new PC - that's a year away:( )

Thanks folks, your guidance will be much appreciated.

I'm using Limewire and I've tried downloading various exe, rar, and zip files. Limewire has some kind of "verification" scan it also does on said files.

Each time I've done a Nortons scan before opening the file and each and every time it says "virus detected"..

uh....!!!

Is this an overkill safety feature of Nortons and should I disregard the warning and unpack the files anyway?

I'm looking for a free copy of Dreamweaver.
Don't want to muck around with 30 day trial versions either.

My Norton antivurus came up for renewal but I heard AVG is better and have downloaded the trial but the original Norton software is still in place and does its thing everytime I switch on. This means that I can't really trial AVG properly - although I already tend to agree it's better after 3 days - i.e is it the AVG suite that's making start up slow or the combination. Can I temporarily disable Norton until the end of the trial, when I'll decide which to subscribe to, or do I have to to uninstall completely? If I uninstall will the version supplied with the laptop load again even though it needs to be renewed? Answers fit for an idiot please I'm not a techy, thanks.

The problem isnt because of programs loading up at startup, because ive done msconfig and have got whats needed loading up. The problem occurs when windows first loads up, the desktop i can use perfectly, but the start menu and the taskbar seem to freeze. Also even if i was to open up a program using a desktop icon (of which i have 3, My docs, my comp and recycle bin) the program doesnt load until the taskbar and the start menu unfreezes. In some cases it can remain frozen for 5 mins or so.

I have noticed that if i press ctrl+alt+del then it seems to unfreeze it quicker. I also have norton antvirus + internet security installed, which when i turn the pc on it seems to be doing someting, then as ive said it all freezes bar the desktop.

Sorry for being so in depth its just this problem is a pain and id like to know if anyone else is having the problem and could rectify it.

Many Thanks

I just bought a new PC. It is a GateWay. I submitted my information for the free Vista upgrade program and I recieved and email. It says that I should send in the original reciept for my order to come in when Vista is released. However, when I check with the site, it says my order is confirmed. What should I do? Someone who has done the same thing please help.
