I just got a laptop, and I have one big folder [16GB] that I want to transfer. Can I do it through a firewire cable? What is the easiest way to do this? Please Help!

Yes you can do this with a firewire cable. Firewire cables are more often a little bit faster than USB2 cables, but both will work just fine. Just be prepared for this to take quite a while though. That is a large file to transfer.

If you don't happen to have a cross-over cable . . .

Try just bruning the directory to a CD. Then it's not only transferable, but backed up in case of transfer issues.

Install a software Total Commander 6.55a through which huge data can be transferred.

Connect a cross-over cable from the NIC of PC #1 to the NIC of PC #2. Assign them static IP addresses on the same network, enable file sharing and you are good to go.

* enable file sharing on both and you are ready
