I just need to edit some clips together to make a little movie trailer for a school project. I want it to look as professional as possible and I don't know how to achieve that with Windows Movie Maker.

Can anyone recommend some professional software that I can get a free trial with?

You can get a free trial with Final Cut, that's the best in the business. I am an amature video editor, and I use Sony Vegas. It's about 100 dollars and it can do pretty much anything you need.

Reguarding your project, I would say, try to see what you can do with Windows Movie Maker. I've seen some pretty good stuff come from the program, it just takes a bit of practice. Other programs which offer more options become increasingly more compicated, so if you can say simple, you're golden.

I hope this information helped.
