I have two virus software protect on my computer. AOL security center which is free. And mcafee which has expired but from time to time it gives me warnings. Whenever I do a search with AOL it always say "everything is perfect" It even gives me a smiley face! Like :-)
But when I am shutting down my computer a mcafee window pops up at the last second it always says "mcafee has found an extremely suspicious file on your computer please do a scan" How the hell am I supposed to do a scan when mcafee has expired. Is it possible mcafee could be acting up, and maybe just doing that so I can renew the software? Which software should I trust? Please help because my computer is lagging like crazy!

Yesterday, my anti virus detected a pahador.f trojan in C:\Windows\Browser.exe I quarantined it immediately. I thought i was safe, this morning, I turned on the computer, and my firewall said that Windows Explorer was trying to connect to the internet. This had never happened before, and since the virus was in it, i denied its access. Now i really want to remove it, but if i remove it, will it remove the browser.exe file which my computer needs to run?

Is there any way to check a website (or even a link) for potential danger BEFORE you click and find out the hard way? How can I know if a site is "bad" other than word of mouth? It seems like every time I run Ad-Aware to scan for malware, dad-gum-it, there's always those pesky "negligible objects" - I know they're not horrible, they're "just" cookie trackers - but, if there wasn't something to them, why does Ad-Aware (& other antispyware programs) find them & call them to our attention? No matter what I do, I obviously can't avoid the ad companies who insist on letting greed and spyware creeps use us all! Am I wrong? If so, then, help me! In addition to Ad-Aware, I have AVG, Spyware Guard, & Windows firewall-any suggestions? BTW, last week I had the Win32 Trojan virus - from where? How did it get past me & all these seemingly useless protectors?

Every time I click on Internet Explorer it takes me to http://asafecenter.com/ . I can not access anything from there. Norton found it and supposedly deleted it, but Internet Explorer is rendered useless. Firefox is unaffected. I restored the computer to a few days ago and that did not help. Besides formatting the computer how can I removed the virus?

I scanned my computer and limewire came up in the results. It does not say to leave or remove it. It came up in my Anti-Spyware scan. I don't know if I should keep it or remove it, or if I am even using it.

I now use Spybot Search and Destroy to take adware off my pc that I must run manually, but I pay $50 per year per pc. Are there any free downloads that can do this? My goal is to periodically clean my pc of junk software. I do have AVG Free virus protection that seems to work better than Norton, that I used to pay for.
