Is there much difference between the free and paid versions if i don't need spyware protection and a firewall because i already have that? Also i have heard that the free version has ads about the paid versions, how often do the ads come?

I DONT WANT AVG. I have no clue why so many people like it. It has the worst detection rates out of avast, AVS, AVG, and antivir, and it has an ugly interface.

the premium version gives you spyware protection which you can already get for free (Windows Defender) and the ads come up once a day but you just press the ok button at the bottom and they go away. They arent really annoying. btw it doesn't work with vista.

Of course there must be a difference between a free version and a paid for edition. No one would buy a professional edition if it were the same as the free version.

get AVG from free.grisoft.com

I've been using their free antivirus software for years and had no problems. It even runs smoother (less system resources) than most of the paid versions.

I have used Avast and AVG for over three years combined and have have only one virus. Both are excellent. Both are free.

The paid one I used was Norton. It was over come by viruses.and problems wit renewing of the subscription.

i dont know of anyone except my parents who pay for av programs. you can get a good program that is way less intrusive than norton or mcafee if you just do a little google.
