The best thing that I have found that really works is a software called noodlenet. You can go to http://www.noodlenet.com/index.php
This is a piece of software that take less than 5 minites to install. It creates a virtual fence around the internet. Only the content that they should see get in. A child cannot log out of the software with a parent doing it. It has diffrent age groups it ranges from 3- 12 years old with diffrent content for the age group. This is a very cool piece of software, it took my 4 year old about an hour to learn to use it. Check it out.

there are ton's, and i mean ton's of software out there that can help protect the kids from using "bad sites" on the 'net.
but guess what?.... kids are so computer savvy that they know the work-arounds of most of the programs. in fact there are forums made up to circumvent these programs. the only
way to keep the child from entering these sites is to have the computer located where a responsible person is around to monitor what is going on. you will get a lot of " you don't trust me! or i want my privacy" issues, but hey, you paid for the machine and the connection so the control is yours.

Parental controls. Also, it isn't software, but you can use Internet Explorer. Go to tools, internet options, content, then content advisor(enable). You can block out sites that depict drugs, nudity, gambling, etc. You can choose to block those sites completely, or just restrict them. Move the slide for the individual content.

Go to Internet Explorer.
click Tools
Internet Options
carefully review Security, Privacy, and Content tabs.
When you get to Content, click "enable"
Here you can set limits and protect them with a password.

Parent to parent - you can only do your best. Only God knows what they get into when visiting a friend. Have a heart-to-heart with them.
