There's more to this story...

Just log on as administrator and right click it and select delete.

It's difficult to understand that "...now the account that the file was on was deleted now the document file is still on the computer but i cant delete it ..." Help us understand what you're talking about.

What kind of account? What kind of file?

Im too lazy to think how i did it, but I'll try to point you to the direction that i found help. First google for " delete password protected file" and visit any site related to microsoft help. There is a specific set of instructions for doing this and i recall having to change the settings of file options , and comically the fix had a success rate! I seem to remember microsoft saying 'this may or may not work' LOL! well it worked for me. Again, sorry tooooo lazy to drain my brain for that all over again. Once is enough.

hi

make sure the program you used to create the file is not runing, temporary turn off/disable your antivirus
if you are administrator you can take over the file security rights, right click on the file, choose tab "security" see what user does have access to the file. you can delete everyone and add your user name (administrator) again

good luck

Right click folder, go to properties, go to Access or Security permissions, add your existing account and give it full permission.
