Web based are where you can get on any web enabled computer, go to a site that host the e-mail and log in to your account. Yahoo and MSN are good examples. They do not put a copy on the computer in the pst file and when deleted, they are gone. The other type is ISP hosted that can only be accessed through their network by setting up an account on the computer and doing a download.
