my computer has been running slow lately, and i did a virus scan. the only threats it found were a few cookies in the temp folder, and something called "Dialer_Ras." i dont want to delete this until i know its a major threat. i did research on it and the only thing i've found is that it just creates dialup things without the user's permission... but i wanted to know if deleting this would make my computer run a little faster, or if deleting it would slow down my computer or delete files i need....

please provide an explanation as to why i should/shouldnt delete this file. thanks!

As of a couple days ago my computer has been running a lot slower, and I keep getting these pop-ups. Neither of which ever happened previously. I've had my laptop since September and this is the first time I have had any of these problems with it. I have Trend Micro PC-Cillin, and I've run all the scans. The first time it found two viruses, the second time one and I had it get rid of those. I ran the spyware scan and it just came up with different cookies.

Ideas?

I receive about 50 spam pieces of mail each day - via my Yahoo! account. Yahoo puts them into a bulk folder for me. I move them into a special folder - and then mark them as spam - which puts them into my blocked addresses. I haven't noticed any less spam. Do the people sending spam use a different address for themselves each time they do a mailing?

If I think someone has my password and is logging into my gmail account - is there any way I can track this? Can I see when my gmail account is accessed? Or if its accessed from a different computer?

it freezes sometimes and its the kind of freeze where you cant click anything anywhere? and if you try ctrl alt delete it pops up but you cant click anywhere, and sometimes 50 internet explorer pages pop up all of a sudden? i have avast and spysweeper they havent detected anything ???

I have just removed Norton anti virus and downloaded avast, all seems good with it at the moment - however 1 question, maybe you could answer 4 me is, when a "virus" is moved to the chest what happens to it? do i need to do anything? Thanks x

when i start the system after booting i get welcome screen of windows XP there OS asks the admin password. But i forgot that password. this is my problem. Pls give the solution.

My homepage has been taken over by a site trying to sell me security softwear, I scan with Norton Anti Virus , its says all is fine but can't get rid of this homepage. System alert balloon also keeps popping up linking me to this security homepage.

I'm just kinda unsure and AOL has failed protecting my computer in the past, so much so that I had to download Ad-aware SE personal. Also, each time my computer had a virus the computer guy couldn't even fix it so he had to restart my comp erasing all the music and pictures I downloaded. That's why I know, I need something like x-drive to safe certain things from being destroyed. The part that made me really uneasy was that when I went to download it, it says the publisher is unknown. That made me paranoid about downloading it at all. Does anyone know if it's a safe program?

new win xp pro opened package myself could not actaviate windows online[called and windows had been activated about eight times could not register or activate.with out about 40 or so numbers. i just don't think this is right .need to talk to microsoft that is if i can get the phone number to talk to a rep for techsupport [not a computer] thank you cm hughes

My computer has recently gotten in the habit of sometimes locking itself while I'm away at work. It doesn't do it everyday. I have had a password for it, and it unlocks it after I enter it, but I did not set up my computer to lock on its own. Usually after I unlock it, my computer runs a lot slower than normal. Sometimes, I have to reboot it at the tower just to even get everything back up and running. Does anyone have a suggestion of what's going on and how to fix it? I have recently downloaded the new Internet Explorer, have updated my Windows with updates, have defragged my computer, have all my virus protection updated and my computer has been scanned for viruses, if any of this helps in the diagnosis.

I don't know much about computers, but my computer has been getting a little slow. I have a Sony Vaio and only had two problems with viruses that were easily removed. Since then I always scan with AOL protection with I'm online. It takes longer to download my home screen and restarted without my permission. When it finally went to my home screen I received a error message from windows saying to send them a error report. What's wrong with my comp?
