As of a couple days ago my computer has been running a lot slower, and I keep getting these pop-ups. Neither of which ever happened previously. I've had my laptop since September and this is the first time I have had any of these problems with it. I have Trend Micro PC-Cillin, and I've run all the scans. The first time it found two viruses, the second time one and I had it get rid of those. I ran the spyware scan and it just came up with different cookies.

Ideas?

I'm also getting these fake Active Control boxes that appear at the top, like the yellow ones that Windows has sometimes, but I know they are fake. It says something about "protect your computer from spyware infiltrating the internet"

Well I tried AdAware and it found 21 things and they were deleted. Unfortunately I am still getting the popups and the fake Active Content control thing...

Some cookies can be the cause of spyware, as they track your internet usage and provide that information to different websites. These are called tracking cookies. They can be safely removed.

You should make sure to update all of your spyware/adware scanners as well as your AntiVirus, then run deeps scans in safe mode.

You should use SpyBot Search and Destroy in conjunction with AdAware SE Personal to remove the spyware and adware. This should eliminate the popups.

You probably have spyware in there, antivirus wont delete tracking cookies or even aplets which are tiny bits of info that key those pop ups. Try that free Spybot and then inoculate your computer and that will block over 1500 of those bad websites that allow the loading of tracking cookies and aplets into your computers operating system.

Slow is probably due to the fact that your network connection is the problem. Lots of the DSL services are overloaded and people see that as a computer problem, when in fact it is not.

I like the free trial of Tune-Up Utilities from www.tune-up.com, it is a free trial for 30 days. Then you can buy and use if you like I use that and find it very helpful in maintaining a clean Registry and files. It will also tune your files and delete un-need components which will give you added space.

Scan the PC with a standard anti virus. I think that you have to download a standard anti virus software. . I have come across a website that gives a brief study on computer viruses and their removal. It is very useful. I recommend that you go through this study and download a free software or a better software by making a payment. Please visit

You also try to select and install a suitable anti spy ware from the following link to protect the Pc against spyware attacks.
