Security - November 2006

OK..I got an undeliverable notice from a mailer daemon in the in-box. Well I opened the notice and according to it, I had emailed a person (unknown to me)some weird adverstisment. The header had my acutal email address but it had another persons name preceeding it. OK guys so obviously my email has been hi-jaked .....Im looking for ideas as to what i can do....

Hello Everyone,

A while back I had some malware (some W32 something or other) and I got rid of it, THANKS TO PEOPLE HERE ON ANSWERS! and durring that time Mom was tricked into downloading SystemDoctor2006, I took it off of the computer but it is still putting Spyware on my computer, is there any way to check if there are left overs, if you will, of that program?

My computer is running slower than usual scince i got myspace. every time i go there, McAffe (my virus scan) tells me that it found a trojan and cleaned it. Should i still be worried about the trojan being there?

Also saying ive visited adult sites which I havent done. Is there any disk cleaners I can get without downloading as it wont let me download. Im worried this is coming up even though I havent visited these sites.

I have just downloaded and ran the Norton Internet Uninstaller tool but Norton is still on my computer..any idea's on how to completly remove it?

I did what it told me to and i called them up, and read out each group of numbers. then someone gave me a new id, but when i got it back and typed it out, one group wasn't right. Can i call them up again and repeat it, or will that set of numbers remain? I don't have a clue what to do and now i've lost the reminder. It expirers any minute now.

I am working in a browsing center. There are 10 systems. We installed Win XP and 98. The customers are seeing the adult websites as a result an icon is created in Desktop and Strat Menu I deleted that many times but it comes again. How can I stop this kind of problem?

The other day my friend sent me a file, my computer scanned for if it had a virus in, but there was none. Just afetr i opened it it said that there is a virus. Now everytime i try to sign into msn messenger it says error code 80072efd.

I received notification by email that I had won £500,000 on the Microsoft National Lottery. It seemed very authentic and official. It asked for my personal details as well as all my banking details. All THEIR details appear on the Microsoft fraud prevention page. Please be aware. Strange thing is, I have tries twice to post this question and it has been declined!!! The email warned me against sharing information with outside party as I would be disqualified. BEWARE!!!

i keep getting these Internet Explorer pop-ups that says there is an error and ask if i should send error report and when i did send the error report it said something about it might be because of adaware so am i suppose to delete adaware or....WHAT CAN I DO TO STOP THOSE DAMN INTERNET EXPLORER POP-UPS

I just had a new modem installed today by Dell but now I can't get the mcafee security system to open and enable my antivirus. I keep getting a message that my active shield is either missing or not installed properly. And the reinstallation cd for mcafee does nothing either. Short of calling Dell can anyone take an educated guess whats wrong.Clicking on enable under virus scan just gives me the above message.
