I just had a new modem installed today by Dell but now I can't get the mcafee security system to open and enable my antivirus. I keep getting a message that my active shield is either missing or not installed properly. And the reinstallation cd for mcafee does nothing either. Short of calling Dell can anyone take an educated guess whats wrong.Clicking on enable under virus scan just gives me the above message.

If you know your registration key for Mcafee, go to add/remove and remove McAfee. Then reboot. After you reboot, go to start menu, run and type in: c://program files, click on browser, click on program files. When open look for McAfee, and open and delete the file. (Should not say file is in use as you just rebooted your system. Should delete).

Then reinstall Mcafee. You can only do this if you know your registration key for your Mcafee suite. Otherwise you will have to call Dell, if they are the only ones who know the key.
