I did what it told me to and i called them up, and read out each group of numbers. then someone gave me a new id, but when i got it back and typed it out, one group wasn't right. Can i call them up again and repeat it, or will that set of numbers remain? I don't have a clue what to do and now i've lost the reminder. It expirers any minute now.

Best you call Microsoft ASAP, an obtain the correct group of numbers for your key. Otherwise you may find yourself having to purchase an entire new platform.

You should repeat the numbers back to them so they can confirm.

Microsoft has become very hard core with their WGA tool to scan your hardware and check to see if you have a valid key for your platform.

as long as you have a genuine windows xp i would activate your copy on-line,this is what i do when i need to activate any copies of xp
the problem with ringing the freephone number and getting the activation key over the phone is the key is so large ,its easy to mis-hear a number or letter, and this seems to happen alot, but by doing it on-line the numbers and letters are sent via the internet so they cant be wrong
activate on-line
good luck
