If you prefer zonealarm you can still download earlier versions of zonealarm, compatible with Win98 & still receive updates. I quote from them...
"We are supporting Win98 and ME with versions 6.1 and earlier, but we are not creating new technologies/features nor testing or certifying on Win98 and ME. Our users are welcome to use the older versions and our support will continue to help them. They continue to receive antivirus and OSFirewall updates, and we will fix critical issues that come up with 6.1."

I continuously loved ATGuard for firewall. i've got continuously used McAfee for antivirus techniques and while they bought atguard they grew to grow to be the unmarried answer. i do no longer propose freeware techniques on abode windows machines... stable success
