i am worrying that i will download a virus and wonder why i should have to hit an install character when i have auto update marked. shouldn't that load and install them?

My antivirus showing it as a trojan, but it cant quarantine or delete that file. Its showing access denied. When i am trying to delete that file after logging in safemode with command prompt, i am getting an error message as "The file name, directory name, or volume label syntax is in correct" When i tried to rename that file i got the error message as "The system cannot find the file specified". Please help me to delete this file. The file name is con.lhx

i use Norton Anti-Virus, but recently, it was troubling my computer. a window always popped up, while we surfed, we always had to click OK, to proceed. but then it would come again. and after a while, the internet stopped working. so i disabled Norton, then it worked. when i disabled Norton, i was given option, how long would u like it disabled, i clicked on 'until next restart' option. i restarted again in the morning, and the same hapened. i had to disable it again to use internet. what's the trouble?

I have XP pro and use a password to log on. If someone took out the hard drive and put it in a different machine would they be able to get to my personal info (I am talking about your average hoodlum, not the CIA) without the password?
