I have a fujitsu-Siemens notebook ,My Windows failed to start up, so I need to reboot from the floppy drive, it does not boot from it, i do not know why? so i need to log into the bios to boot from CD Rom, I have forgotten my password, it is a Phoenix bios, what can i do? please help

Open the latch that reveals the mother board. Remove the CMOS battery (you can see a small silver button) and let it be in that position for a whole day( because it take some time to drain the power) then fix the battery and switch on the system. Your BIOS will lose all the information (icluding the password) and its default values get loaded.

this can only be done on the motherboard. you need to clear the cmos. This will set your bios back to defaults. if that fails you need to remove the cmos battery and leave out for a minute or two and replace. Then reboot. This time you should definitely have no password problems.

How easy this is to do on a notebook computer I don't know.

Normally simply removing the motherboard battery for about 20 seconds will reset the password. On a notebook, you'll have to look up how to get to it.

Yes the removal of the battery is the answer but i find 2 days are required to reset the bios back to default

in laptops, its impossible to clear the password, cause it saved on an Eprom chipset, if you want to change it then you got to remove the chipset and install another one, or you can simply contact the manufacturere, supply invoices to him, they will get your the password
