have you ever done a defrag on your computer sometimes its the regular maintenance things that get over looked and cause all kinds of wierd problems.
it could also be your IDE cables how old is the machine
i just had a client pc that i couldnt figure out why the heck it was so slow booting up and operating once it did boot. finally just to see if anything would happen i changed out the cables and sure enough it was like brand new.
there are other things you can try to like using the OS cd and entering the recovery console you can run a chkdsk /f /r
or you can do a windows repair
good luck

1) you haven't tried everything... or
2) you have hardware problems

If you have hardware problems that causes a slow boot - chances are you have hardware problems that cause the entire system to be slow.

Without knowing what your operating system is I couldn't begin to tell you how to start looking into it - feel free to provide us with more information, along with ideas you've already tried and we can try to help you get started in the right direction.
