Most people I know with high-speed Internet connections leave their computers on all day. Dial-up users typically leave their connections "open" for shorter periods of time. Does this make their computers less vulnerable to Internet security threats? I am assuming that it's just as easy to penetrate the security of a dial-up connection as a high-speed connection -- but the dial-up account presents a smaller "window of opportunity" to a cyber-intruder.

I think I have a virus on my computer. I have windows xp and the AOL safety and security virus protection. I believe that I have a virus somehow, my screen scrambles at times and has been acting up on me.

I couldn't see the equation editor for math homework so I clicked "can't see equation editor?" It said to make sure Java and Java Script are enabled and then I should be able to see it. They are and I still can't. Computer said Windows blocked application because it can't verify publisher. It also asked me if I trust it, clicked yes, signed out and signed back in and it still isn't there, what now?

Ok, I did a full scan with the latest definitions. I quarantined and then deleted the infected files. But there are two files that it said it "left alone" I right click on it and click properties, and it said that it failed to quarantine it and delete it. And in the instructions, it says it can still spead if its not taken care of. I don't get it, how do I fix those files. The files are "winlogon.exe" and "lsass.exe" The name of the virus was W32.RONTOKBRO@MM. Thosea are the only two files it wont do anything about. But, still the computer is running very well, but I dont want those files to become a problem later. Please help....I'll give you ten points!!

If I'm clicking on the spam button when I check all the mail in my mail box on yahoo. how come they are still coming back with the same e-mail either the same day or the next day how can I make sure that those junk e-mail will not come back without directly going to each and every one to unsubscribe.

When I open msconfig and select the startup tab, I noticed a unnamed program running. I mean...it's completely blank. Nothing under "startup item" and nothing under "command".

I JUST BOUGHT A USED COMPUTER THAT IS ABOUT A YEAR OLD FOR $200 BUCKS. THE ONLY THING THAT CAME WITH THE COMPUTER WAS THE CPU TOWER, MONITOR, KEYBOARD, & MOUSE. I THINK THE WARRANTY MIGHT HAVE EXPIRED ANYWAY THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT WHEN I TRY TO INSTALL NEW PROGRAMS I KEEP GETTING THIS MESSAGE THAT SAYS "YOU DO NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT RIGHTS PLEASE LOG IN AS AN ADMINISTRATOR" I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT THE GUY I BOUGHT THE COMPUTER FROM BUT HIS PHONE IS DISCONNECTED & I BELIEVE THAT THE COMPUTER MIGHT BE STOLEN BUT I WANT TO KEEP IT. I recently got a virus(spydoctor) & i think i managed to get rid of it. In the few days trying to delete it popped up now and again saying"transferring files to remote computer".

what do you do with them?

i respond to them and try to get a converstaion going, supply them false information and make them mad, i have enve got some to send me their pictures holding a sign or posing with a basket on their head, they will do this to prove they are for real, but in the end its a scam and i love to waste their time!
