Hello...Recently I met someone online. While chatting, they told me that their computer was not functioning well. They requested that I give them my IP address and said that they wanted to use it to check out their computer and find out what was causing it to malfunction. I don't really know much about an IP address except that I have heard that it is something like a postal address, in the sense that someone can find out where you are just by using that code. I was hesitant to give it out because I don't know what can be done with it. I assumed that it is sensitive information that you don't want to hand to just anybody. Is there any danger in giving out my IP address to someone I have just met?

my husband and I have seperate computers but are connected through a 2wire. I'm not too computer savy, but my friend told me, because he is the administrator of our network , or the 2wire thing, he's able to look into my computer, files, mail, make changes etc. He's been spending alot of time on the computer and learning "new tricks"(not porn) when I asked him. I have nothing to hide but I feel like it's an invasion of my privacy and if it is possible to do, he'd be the one to do it ; but thats another Oprah. Is my friend right ? If so what can I do to protect my privacy or even more fun, throw in some road blocks or something I can do to be one step infront of him.
