my husband and I have seperate computers but are connected through a 2wire. I'm not too computer savy, but my friend told me, because he is the administrator of our network , or the 2wire thing, he's able to look into my computer, files, mail, make changes etc. He's been spending alot of time on the computer and learning "new tricks"(not porn) when I asked him. I have nothing to hide but I feel like it's an invasion of my privacy and if it is possible to do, he'd be the one to do it ; but thats another Oprah. Is my friend right ? If so what can I do to protect my privacy or even more fun, throw in some road blocks or something I can do to be one step infront of him.

he won't be doing anything like that unless he has physical access to your machine. ie sitting in front of it while it's in windows.
to view your files (without having sound technical knowledge) he would need to be on your machine, logged into windows, and to 'share' your hard drive on the network (which is 2wire).
as you say, he is the administrator of the the network, and his computer, but not your pc - unless he has a logon name on your pc's welcome screen of course which is setup as an administrator.
also, because 2wire is a router, it has a configuration page which keeps a log of all visited websites and access times etc from the computers connected to it - this could be one of his 'tricks'.
personally if i thought someone was f**king with me i'd login to the router myself, setup mac address filtering so only my computer can use/access the router, then change the router's password.
but then when i get revenge people don't forget lol

Help him to learn more by making a SHARED folder on your computer. Add some stuff that HE CAN look at. You can learn about file privacy together, if you challenge him to look deeper into your computer.
Remember, the internet is FULL of hacks and such. So if HE can see your files then so can't others. When you get and adjust your FireWall, so he can't snoop just anywhere, then you know that you are keeping others out too. Then sit him down on YOU computer to HACK BACK in to his. He'll see where he is wide open to the world also.

I don't know what a 2wire is, unless you're talking about a home network? If you have sensitive files on your computer, you can try encrypting them if you're using XP Pro. Or you can Google search for encryption programs.
You can also tell your husband to disable 'file sharing' on your computers. Having file sharing enabled on your network while your network is connected to the Internet is a big mistake.
If you need to transfer files between computers, just use something like a USB drive or memory stick. Heck, I can use my MP3 player to transfer files from one computer to another one.
Don't let your husband use 'Remote Assist' on your computer. (Look it up in the Windows Help file in the Start menu.) If your husband wants to work on your computer to fix something, he should WALK over to it and work on it, as opposed to accessing your computer from his.

Turn off file sharing on your computer and password protect it. That way you can surf porn without your husband knowing about it.

When you are not actually sharing files with him or on the Internet, unplug the network cable and he can not access your computer.

he can't look into ur mails, onless ur using "out look express" but yes he can look into ur files and make changes. but one one is that you can make a file name sound dull so that he wont want to look into it
another way is that you should just delete his file on ur computer, and delete urs on his compputer
