You can try installing this version of Firefox without uninstalling Explorer and see how it goes. It has a popup stopper too.

First check the level of setting in Control Panel > Internet Options > Security tab > Custom Level.

you can enable the ActiveX there, but i do not recommend it as lots of virus and spyware will come your way.

Do you use either of the spyware programs called Spybot Search and Destroy, OR SpywareBlaster (there maybe others, perhaps Webroot SpySweeper). These programs place kill-bits in the registry to disable certain harmful Active-X componants from running on your computer.

Active-X is often used to deliver spyware and other malware to your computer. You should never allow Active-X to run or be installed on your computer unless you 100% absolutely trust the web-site that wants to use them. And never ever allow an "unsigned" Active-X control to be used on your computer.

Good luck.

try reinstalling it off microsoft.com... or go into inet options under control panel and goto security and default the level in the security tab for each zone at the top. and default the level in the advanced tab as well.
