Since the evidence is electronic, it can be deleted. Nevertheless, deletion does not actually occur. Forensic tools used by goverment agencies such as CIA, FBI or even police can restore any information, even if the disk was formatted, wet or semi-destroyed. The only true way is to have the PC be affected by a strong field of electromagnetic energy, or EMP. Although, after that, buy a new PC for yourself.

from what I understand, even if you think you are deleting something from your computer, it can still be found by someone looking at your computer's harddrive. This is because as you save new data onto your computer, it does not overwrite the information you think you have deleted until you have used all the space up, then it may go back and you may lose some of that data that was initially deleted, but with the large drives most computers have now, that can be hard to do.

The only way to destroy evidence of any activity on your PC is to open the casing of your HDD and smash the disc inside, It doesnt matter what else you do, if you are still using your HDD, I can find anything on it......and I only did 3 years at college and 2 years ant Uni, so it is quite easy for the information to be recovered

with firefox when doing "Ctrl-shift-delete" you can delete the major part of the personnal stuff (history, password, etc.)

It's not perfect and computer cracks can find other ways to know your history. However if you checked some p0rn on your mom's computer she probably won't find out ;o)

nope..... you can never delete all evidence on your comp. you can cover it up with encryptions that make it harder to read, but you can never get rid of it. If you start a comp in dos and you go into it you can read everything ever typed or every page ever looked at...... passwords.... emails. everything
all you can do is destroy your harddrive
