I keep getting this stupid thing popping up in the bottom right hand corner telling me that I am possibly ifected with a virus or spyware - when I run the programs I have for that (webroot and trend micro anti virus) it tells me there is nothing wrong. I have my yahoo pop up blocker on and still I get this thing. If I click on it it takes me to this address http://antispywarebox.com/index3.php?aff=24&wd=C:\\WINDOWS

What I want to know is how the heck to get this to stop. It is driving me nuts!!

It also will come up with a window in the middle that says
DANGER! WIndows Security system alert! Security center has detected potential security vulnerabilites that may send private information to a remote computer. One of the processes (alexie328.dll) has just sent this information: and then it gives a blurb.
Anyone have any ideas??? Please????

I has tried some title of Antivirus product, some of them is freeware also. When I tried the Antiviruses, I found out that it's not always freeware Antivirus is a bad product, and vice versa. Right now, the Antivirus I currently using is Avast! Antivirus home edition. Just want to get opinion about what Antivirus is the best right now to fight those pesky virus out there? I have read many sites that doing Antivirus "benchmarking", but I found a very different result in each sites (different sites = very different results). So I can't get any conclusion from those websites. Can you share your experience from using Antivirus?

I've used Spybot, AdAware SE Personal, and MS Defender. I tried a few spyware scans and it found all sorts of stuff that ALL 3 of those missed!

I've heard good things about Spysweeper and Spyware Doctor. Which do you think I should try?

Have you had experience (good or bad) with either?

I was using Limewire. I downloaded Bearshare today and Zango which supports it started giving me a lot of pop ups. I tried closing both Lime.. and bearshare they kept restarting. I restarted my PC but again they started up automatically. I kept getting an alert asking if I wanted to make Limewire my default magnetic reader (I think) If I pressed ok Limewire restarted. Then I uninstalled both from my PC. But still I'm getting a lot of popups. They are ads or webpages opening with IE. The webpages first open with www.ad-w-a-r-e.com... and then go on to other websites. My PC is running very slowly. I've scanned my PC atleast 5 times with Ad-Aware SE and I'm scanning it with Norton too. In between all this Spyware Nt (I think) asked if I want to install it. I thought it was anti-adware and installed it. Ad-aware showed me it was a critical object and I've uninstalled it. Pop ups keep coming. Please help me out....

My friend had a very unfortuanate experience while he was internet banking yesterday.
While Logging into the HSBC website he was instantly greeted by a pop up asking him to enter account details and also name and address,
Now this person is not overly clued up on malicious activity on the internet, but fortunately he twigged that in all his 4 years of internet banking this never happened. He rang the bank which the advisor then changed te details - i suppose just in case!
The computer in question has Mcafee internet suite 2006 and since then it was ok.
It just goes to show guys that you gotta be careful! so careful!
So coming back to my question - what kind of Malicious file may you think this would be?
and how! did it slip through the net.
Obviously its a scan of some sort?
Would it have been a new malicious file that mcafee isnt aware of as its rather new?
He has a full licence for the Mcafee product - no copy (Before anyone asks lol)
Id like to hear your views! Many Thanks

Do I need an anti virus program for my wifes iMac G5? I just read MacWorlds newest mag and even the editor says he still runs his Mac without one but this issue is all about making your Mac more secure. Is two or three viruses written for our Mac's worth the drag an anti-virus program places on our iMac's? Window XP runs fast and somewhat stable till you load the firewalls, anti adwear and virus programs. Do I really want to go there with her new Mac? She is a smart experienced computer user and is the only user of her computer as we are empty nesters. What has been your experiences with this? Thanks for any help.
