If you were outbid on something on eBay, and if the seller has a duplicate item, the seller can offer you a second chance to buy the duplicate item for whatever your high bid was. If this is what happened, then it's not a spoof. But if you never bid on anything, BEWARE.

If you pay for a second chance offer through PayPal, you have the same buyer protection as if it was an original winning bid.

If you get such an email, it is most likely fishing.

Type the E-bay url into your task bar, log into your account and see if there is anything there about the second chance offer. DO NOT click on any link included in the email. E-bay no longer includes such links because they are too likely to be used by fishers.

If the mails addressed you like 'dear ebay user....' they're spoofs.... ALL mails from ebay and paypal will start with something along the lines of 'dear ....'
