No. A free anti-virus program is suspcious and is going to be a trojan.
Meaning it will come with garbage that will infect your computer all the while it may look and feel like something credible.
Get and pay for a new copy of McAfee Anti-Virus.
It's worth it!

Trust me, there is no shortage of free or almost free antivirus software. There are three (3) very popular free AV programs:
1. AVG Grisoft - http://www.grisoft.com/doc/1
2. Antivir - http://www.free-av.com/
3. Avast - http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html#3
All of them have their pro's and con's. You can read the review for these three programs at:
1. "Review: Free Antivirus Software" --by About.com (http://antivirus.about.com/od/antivirussoftwarereviews/a/freeav.htm)
2. "Free Antivirus: Finally Ready for Prime Time" --by PC World
(http://www.pcworld.com/howto/article/0,aid,113462,00.asp)
There are also some commercial trial versions as well. Some of these version (including: F Secure, McAfee, Trend Micro, Norton...) give you a free 3, 6 or 12 months trial period. You can find these downloads at:
1. Security software: Downloads and trials @ Microsoft.com
(http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/downloads/default.mspx)
Have fun!

What do I use on my own computer, that is much more effective than many paid antiviruses, faster than many paid ones, and easier than many paid ones?
Simple. Avast! Home Edition, free for personal use.
Download it here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
And then register it here:
http://www.avast.com/i_kat_207.php?lang=ENG
Give them your first initial, last initial, country and email if your paranoid. They don't spam you, but you can use (anyemail)@dodgeit.com if you are paranoid, just go to dodgeit.com and put that in.
Hope this helps!
