I have processes in my system tray that I know are spyware/adware related. When I try to end said processes it says unable to terminate process. How do I terminate these processes?

I have 2 memory sticks and when I transfer folders (I either copy and paste or drag) from one stick to another ,i can see the transfer actually happening I click into the memory stick where the folders have been transferred to click on the file and can physically see my data within the folder,i leave the memory stickk in my usb port for a few mins so i know that the transfer has actually taken place.Then when I take the stick out and put it back in again i locate the memory stick where the files and folders have been saved,I can see the folders but wi know then I open up the folders there is no files in there - it is as if the data within the folders has been erarsed when i took out the memory stick - any ideas please????

every so often my computer keeps flashing 'dial up connection box' and stops me going forward or then keeps working ' off line' its doing my sweed in..please help you kind computer people..oh surprise surprise it has stopped for a little while then it will be back.

whenever I close an additional window(i.e. checking aol mail brings up "pop up" screen), my ie7 closes, saying Internet explorer has caused an error and needs to close. what could be causing this? any help would be greatly appreciated.

A friend of mine recently had problems installing a graphics card and subsequently changed some settings in the bios.

Now when he turns the pc on, it doesnt load at all, not even so he can access the bios, and he cannot change the settings back to what they were. It simply sits there with a blank screen.

Is this situation rectifiable? If so, what course of action should he take.

i know you go into the appearances & themes section, (i`ve done it before)...last nite, i had a picture as my desktop & this morning when i started up my computer, it was gone, replaced by a color screen!!! i`ve tried changing it back to the picture i had, but it won`t let me, i can`t even click the "browse" button in the desktop section...does anyone know what might have happened & how i can get it to display a picture???

I am still in the dark ages with my laptop and dial-up connectivity. I will be traveling in a little over a month and staying at a hotel that offers a high speed connection (additional fee, of course). What hardware and software do I need to allow me to take advantage of this? Do I need service from an ISP (or similar) to use this feature?

I am trying to buy a refurbished Dell just as a second computer and I'm trying to figure out if it has enough space. The listing says 10 GB and 256 MB. What does that mean? It doesn't have a CD or DVD burner so I won't be taking up space with movies, picutres, or music. It's pretty much just for surfing the net, a few computer games, and doing research. Ok this is quite odd for me. I have noticed files just randomly disappearing from the music folder. But if I type the location of the file into windows media player or even an internet explorer address bar, the music plays. Apparently the file is there, I just can't see its icon in the folder? This only happens with three songs out of hundreds. Most songs are still present in the folder. Even after doing a Search for all files on the computer, the files do not show up. But if you happen to remember the file location and type it into a media player, it pops right up and begins playing.
