I have processes in my system tray that I know are spyware/adware related. When I try to end said processes it says unable to terminate process. How do I terminate these processes?

Click start >click run >type in msconfig click on the startup tab then uncheck everything there except your anti virus and internet connection . Click ok and your computer will restart .

then
1) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot http://spywarekiller.hyperboards.com/index.php?action=view_topic&topic_id=4 do that now .Update it http://www.spybot.info/en/howto/update.html (latest updates on 14th march 2007) and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans in safe mode http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html

then run AVG Anti-Spyware Free

then

2) Do an online virus scan to check and remove virus and spyware if you still have viruses on your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .

One way is to google them just to be sure. Go to www.google.com and type in the name of the process and you will find out whether it is spyware or not.

If it is spyware then download at least 2 spyware removal tools and run them. The reason I recommend 2 is because one might pick up on spyware that the other might have missed.

Or you could just download then run the spyware to see if the processes disappear if you don't want to go the google route.

You can download very good free spyware removal tools here:
