i know you go into the appearances & themes section, (i`ve done it before)...last nite, i had a picture as my desktop & this morning when i started up my computer, it was gone, replaced by a color screen!!! i`ve tried changing it back to the picture i had, but it won`t let me, i can`t even click the "browse" button in the desktop section...does anyone know what might have happened & how i can get it to display a picture???

You may have whats called a Desktop Hijacker. Its a pesky little thing that basically puts another screen over top of your background image. You can try running AdAware, or SpyBot and see if that cures it. I have placed a link below that will describe what it is, and a means to get rid of it. Bare in mind that it is probably not the same as the one you may have. Good Luck!

If you have the picture saved in your "My Pictures" folder, right click on it and select "set as deskop background" But make sure that it's in thumbnail view first to do it

Open regedit and find this User Key:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\
Microsoft\Windows\
Current Version\Policies\]

If you can see entry named Wallpaper delete it.
You will have to restart computer for the changes to take effect.

make sure the picture is saved on you hard drive-the target picture needs to be able to be found by the system.
