My computer is 3 years old, and functions great for the most part. It's running XP Pro. Yesterday, I tried to install an few old games I found (SimPark, SimTown, Monopoly). Only Monopoly would play. SimPark & Town both said I needed to upgrade to Windows 95, basically because it didn't recognize XP Pro, is my guess.
I shrugged, went on with my day. Last night, I noticed the Show Desktop icon was missing, and a new one was there. When I looked at it, it was pointing to show desktop, but wouldn't work. We tried to create a new one, but each one showed up as broken links.
We tried to clean the programs off the CPU last night (the icon showed up as a SimTown icon), and this morning when I went to sign on, it told me my profile was corrupt, and wouldn't load. It loaded a default one, saying it was mine. After a restart, it loaded mine.
My husband tried to drop a shared copy of his desktop icon, but my shared folders were not working, this time. Can I roll back the cpu to yesterday?
