If your machine is working well, don't bother. Otherwise you have to go to the manufacturers website, download the bios, put it on a system disk, they usually tell you how to do this and then update.

BUT Beware
The bios is a vital component for your motherboard and updating can go wrong and if it does it makes your machine totally useless so follow the manufacturers instructions to the letter.

Ouch.

It has been a few years since the Toshiba days but here goes.

My first guess is that there is a stuck key. I bet there is some magic key combination that forces the bios to begin a bios update.

Secondly, I wonder if you got a boot sector bug/virus.

Here is the link to the Toshiba bios download.

You should be able to download this, create a disk, and do the bios update.

I am concerned however, I have not ever heard of a computer telling someone that it is ready to do a bios update without a user forcing it.

Good luck

Tom

PS. All good advice above.

Computers dont ask for BIOS updates, these are something you choose yourself whether or not to update. Have you got an AV solution on this laptop, cos maybe virus related.

hi...it is easy to update your bios...don't worry...just go to the toshiba website and there you will be able to put in your computer model number and the windows operating system you are currently using which will take you to updates etc...look for the tab for 'drivers & programs' and a list will come up.

look for the bios update there, and you will get a couple of choices, either to save the file to your computer, or, to download directly to your computer...so, pick either as its no problem to load the new bios...after you do you will be asked to restart your comp and there you go 'new bios' and better computer.

To be honest, I'd be suspicious about that, you wouldn't normally be suddenly asked to do that.

Id' be inclined to do a good virus check and malware check before considering anything else.

PS If you want some advice about checks, do come back.
