i have problems with my slow as he11 20 gig laptop and it says my cpu usage is 100%
internet explorer takes up 40,000k
avast anti virus and macafee take up 30,000k
and what is svchost and why does it take up 20 to 30,000k


another question...
is there a really good program other than avast that doesnt take up much space and monotors what limewire or any p2p is doing and making sure the files ive downld are safe?

i just copied files to a cd a couple of days ago. its a hp 80 min 700 mb cd. i burned all my files to it. wenever i put it in my cd it never works. it will tell me that the device isnt ready or wen i click in the icon it'll show nothing. i kno this is the rite cd. wen i put it into my bro's laptop it shows up in windows media player. and wen i click on the icon nothing shows up.
i have win 98 and my brother has xp
why isnt my cd working????

i have a dell laptop, a fender acoustic electric, and a microphone adpter ting that makes the guittar plug fit int the computer, in all the free software i have downloaded to record, all i get is a loud bzzzz sound. please help, all i want is to be able to record, i will have an amp in like 2 days so do i have to run it through that. i dont know, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

a friend of mine just got in a wreck , i mean just now in front of my house while coming to my house...i feel bad for her, i went out there to check on her and her neck is hurt and she is having panic attacks, her kids were with her - both seem to be fine, i told her that they were ok and if she needs me for her oldest daughter to call me, i didnt feel like i should stay out there in the middle of all of what was going on with ambulances, police, and also 2 other cars involved, so i went back in my house....am i bad friend or what shoulld i have done...i hate drama...of any kind....i will call and check on her in a while after they have gone thru the emergency room ordeal...i'm not heartless, i know they are physically almost ok....

I get bord at work and watch alot of movies and tv shows at those free movies sites. and alot of them you can upload your own movie how do u do that and does it take long. I have a HP. My mother is afraid to fly, so to let her see what happens, I recently took a short video with my Canon Powershot during takeoff from LAX.

Unfortunately, I took the video from the side window over the wing and I rotated my camera sideways. When I got home and tried to upload and show the video on my PC, I found that it was recorded sideways (as expected) and that I could not rotate it like I had done with my still images (not expected).

Are there any software packages that come with Windows or shareware that will do this? I could not find the option in Windows Movie Maker.

I have a Compaq Presario 5020 and it is running slower than usual, I have defragmented it and cleared the cookies, temp files, and history. My internet is supposed to be running 5 megs but when I do a speedtest it says I am only running just under 3 megs. is there a way that I can make it run like new again?

Thanks for the answers so far, but the difficulty I'm having is with my actual emails. When I receive an email, I read, then move to a folder in 'my folder' on the left of my screen. How do I stop someone from opening them up and reading them. I've tried a couple of the suggestions but cannot find my emails anywhere to hide or disallow others to open. Please reply in baby talk because I'm a new little plum to computers and still get worried when odd things pop up on my screen. Thanks all.
