I am buying a custom machine from ibuypower.com

Is it worth it to buy the 8800 GTX ultra x2??

Will this improve my gaming performance at all or will it run the same as 1 card? I am looking for gaming performance not multitasking.. So basically the question is, will 2 video cards help out my framerate over 1 video card? And is the 2x Videocard thing just for two monitors or is it for performance... Thank you all answers appreciated!!!

the new performance line of asus motherboards look incredibly hot and have a ton of features. However i am debating between buying a P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP@n, the energy-saving one, and Asus P5K3 Deluxe WiFi-AP, the performanve one. They seem to have the same features and names, but why is the P5E version 100 dollars more?

My computer had 2 rams in it, one 64 at 100mhz and one 256 at 133mhz and everything was ok. Today I put in another two 256 at 133 mhz and took out the 64 one. When I turned on my computer I got this message "164 Memory size error" but after that my windows loaded normally and when I go to my computer it shows the total ram of 768. My question: Why did I get the error message? Should I leave the new rams in? Or is this going to 'cause any problems later on?

Hello all! I am curious as to if I can hookup my 2.1 Logitech PC Speakers to my audio receiver so I can use them to watch tv, movies, or play PS3. My setup is as follows:

-PS3 to Receiver via HDMI for video, Optical for audio
Cable Box to Receiver via HDMI for video, Optical for audio
Receiver to TV via HDMI.

Now my PC speakers have a headphone jack connection that would normally connect to a soundcard, however I have an adaptop to convert from the headphone style connection to the red/white RCA cables. Where would this be connected on my receiver and how would I have to set it to use the speakers for all my devices? I have an Onkyo HDMI receiver.

Many thanks!

Concerning power supplies, what does an active and/or passive PFC mean? Another thing, what does it mean when they say ATX12V / EPS12V? I know ATX is the form factor and 12V is the voltage of the rail cord on the power supply, but what is EPS12V?

Hey all,
I recently purchased an EliteGroup 945GZT-M motherboard with a Celeron 420 processor from Microcenter. I'd put everything together (all the drives, fans, etc.) but when I went to power up, nothing happened. No fans, no lights, no beeps, nothing.

Assuming it was the power supply (a cheap-o Microcenter brand 300 Watt ATX), I returned it to the store, where they gave me another one. This didn't help either, so I returned it for a 550 Watt PSU. Initially, this was no help, but after following the tips on the Microcenter website telling me to build it outside the case with only the essentials plugged in, the fans spun, and a red light lit up in the case faceplate. I assume the red was because I hadn't plugged in the system fan, or something to that degree.

Elated, I re-installed the motherboard within the case where it again worked as promised. I moved the case over to my monitor and keyboard, but found that it wouldn't turn on for me again. I really have no idea what to do here.

I recently bought a brand new harddisk together with an external casing. The problem is that my PC can't detect the new harddisk, even though my PC is able to detect the USB casing. So what is the problem? I'm using SataII harddisk.

I tried checking the Administrative tool --> Device Manager and the new harddisk is not listed there.

Any advice?

Exactly a year ago, my old computer's hard drive crashed. I miss all my stuff I had on it so I decided to mess with it again. What happens when I turn it on is a black screen saying my video card info comes up, and then a screen with a giant E (for emachines) and then it stops at a black screen with a little flashing white dash in the corner.

So, what's wrong with it? Can I recover the data by myself?

I took it into Best Buy last year when it died, and they said everything showed up fine on their stuff, but it would cost me like 150$ or something to have it recovered. I finally have the money now, but I want to see if I can do it myself and save that money =|

And will they still be able to recover since its been an entire year? And if I get Best Buy to recover it, what do they put all the info on? Like, a CD, or something?

Ok, so my problems continue. I ordered a motherboard off ebay, It didn't power up at all, not signs of life in it. But my original problem came from an old PSU melting to the mobo, there is no burns on the other side and it still for the most part works but I wanted to upgrade my video card.

If I left the melted psu in the mobo connected only to the 20 pin connecter. Could I use a new power supply and connect it to the video card and harddrive without having a melt down or something? If so is there any tips so I can make it decently safe?

~Mike, thanks
