Hello all! I am curious as to if I can hookup my 2.1 Logitech PC Speakers to my audio receiver so I can use them to watch tv, movies, or play PS3. My setup is as follows:

-PS3 to Receiver via HDMI for video, Optical for audio
Cable Box to Receiver via HDMI for video, Optical for audio
Receiver to TV via HDMI.

Now my PC speakers have a headphone jack connection that would normally connect to a soundcard, however I have an adaptop to convert from the headphone style connection to the red/white RCA cables. Where would this be connected on my receiver and how would I have to set it to use the speakers for all my devices? I have an Onkyo HDMI receiver.

Many thanks!

I think you can connect the PC speakers to the headphone jack of the receiver. The receiver probably has the larger style headphone jack, so you'll need an adapter.

There is probably a preamp output at the back of the receiver with the red and white connectors. Unfortunately, this means that if you have a remote for the receiver, that will no longer control the volume of the speakers. You would have to get up every time to adjust the volume.

If you wanted to use the receiver to adjust the volume, then the only other option I can think of would be to find a headphone jack on the receiver somewhere. If it doesn't have one, then I suppose you could get a female headphone connector from Radio Shack, cut the wire and strip it to the four separate wires, and hook those into the speaker outputs of the receiver itself (I suggest this because I suppose you probably don't want to cut and strip the existing wire hooked up to your speakers).

For this you need the DTS-100 my friend. And let me tell you, I spent over six months searching for one at a decent price. Believe me, you are not going to find this product for any less than 2 or 300 dollars.
