My cd drive on my computer is stuck open. It feels like it has come off track (2 year old was playing with it.) I can't figure out how to unplug the cable from the back of it. I don't want to just tug hard and break the cable.

I'm about to change from a PC Laptop to a Mac Laptop, but because of some of the programs I have to use I need to get a parallel version of a Mac.
Can I use the Windows XP disc that came with my old laptop to install on my Mac? Or will I have to buy another Windows XP disc?

Just a quick check. I have a motherboard that supports a SATA hard disk (1.5 Gb/s). I have a SATA II hard disk (3.0 Gb/s).

Am I right in saying that my motherboard will still recognise the hard disk but I'll only be able to get the 1.5 Gb/s transfer speed (similar to the way USB 1.0 connections still see USB 2.0 peripherals but transfer is only at USB 1.0 speed).

I'm planning to take my PC at a repair shop tomorrow.. Now my question is if it's ok to take my drive D off my CPU because I have confidential files in there. Will they still be able to repair my CPU without my drive d? How about drive C? Can i also take that off?
