There are really 3 main sizes:
3.5" - Used in desktop/tower PCs
2.5" - Used in laptops
1.8" - Used in MP3 players like Ipods

Everyone knows desktops use 3.5 inch and laptops use 2.5 inch.

if its in a desktop its will be a 3.5", if its in a laptop a 2.5" also if its a desktop and its really old it could be a different size

Open your case. Desktops are usually 3.5, and notebooks are usually 2.5.

Measure it, or 3,5 if PC, 2.5 if laptop. Big as a book if bigfoot.
