My brother recently bought me a new motherboard and there is this new program i notice in the control panel. It is ageia physx. what exactly is this? Is this some type of new graphic card? I already own a graphic card (ati x1300). Is ageia work side by side with ati or what? can anyone clarify me on this?

My CPU comes on for only a minute and shuts down because the CPU fan failed, Is it possible to back my hard drive now or is it too late? What options do I have. I am going to fix the cpu but that would restore my factory configurations.

Please Advice!

Curious.

I have heard people talking about burning chips that can be used to improve the performance of their computer.

But what do they put in their chips? A full program or just some routines?

Can we put a full program on a chip? Can we put a pac man or space invader program in the chip? Or a word processor program in it?

If we can, how can we direct the PC to load the program off the chip? I mean the PC only load programs from Drives A, C, D and F, doesn't it?

I'm wondering about the Radeon x1650 pro and a power supply. I've read one of the requirements of the Radeon and it mentions a 420 Watt ATX 2.0 or greater power supply. Consult your computer system manual to ensure the power supply is designed to accommodate a high-end graphics card with a peak dissipation above 75 watts. Can someone explain what this means?

The other question I got is about the power supply. I spoke to someone from gateway and he mentioned the fact that I can basically get any power supply I want as long as it fits and is the same shape as the original one, is this true?

I also want a little more insurance to see if I can run a Radeon x1650 pro. Can someone check my comps specs to see if I can fit it? http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=2900033
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102057
I asked the gateway people a few times and it seems as if all of them had different answers and they also gave very vague responses. Hope someone can help.

Does the deleted data from the hard disk go to the atmosphere? Though I have a 80 GB hard drive, I would have deleted at least 500 GB of data till date i.e. store something, access it and if not required, delete it.. So, I was wondering where does all these deleted data go? Are there no space constraints for the deleted data? Just curious.

one specific part of p.c,s has allways confused me and thats all the ampage and wattage that appears in the specification sheets for power supplys, for example a 350watt psu will have a chart like this
+12V +5V +3.3V +5VSB -12V -5V
15A 16A 15A 2A 0.5A 0.5A ...and a 550watt p.s.u will look ike this
+3.3V +5V +12V -5V -12V +5VSB
28A 35A 30A 0.5A 0.8A 2.5A
my question is,as the ampage on the 550watt psu is higher than the 350watt psu, well what bearing will that have on a p.c,such as supplying power to a graphics card
i ask this as its using a 350watt p.s.u at the moment and as the card requires a 400watt i think its not getting the power it should, thus affecting its performance
will the new 550watt psu improve the stability of the graphics card due to the better power supply
any ideas guys?.............cheers!

Alrighty, I've read this Q&A, and added 2 comments but nobody replied to them.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Akxl5WsWi3o.b0uI4WJcCfMjzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20070902091222AACAFnm

I've got the same computer as JP who asked the question.

I also discovered this graphics card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130071

So my question in detail is.. .What do I need to know if I want to upgrade? Will I have to buy a larger power supply? Will I need to install extra fans or some sort of cooling system?
Will my motherboard even support this GFX card model? (I don't know what motherboard I have and don't know how to figure it out)

I'm lost with this technology, and really want to be able to experience DX10 games, and replay games I can no longer play...

Thanks so much in advance = )
