I'm planning to take my PC at a repair shop tomorrow.. Now my question is if it's ok to take my drive D off my CPU because I have confidential files in there. Will they still be able to repair my CPU without my drive d? How about drive C? Can i also take that off?

First, is your D drive a separate physical disk or just a partition on the primary disk in the system? (Had to ask the basic question...user experience levels vary greatly)

If the D drive is a separate physical device and is only a data disk (no startup applications, pagefile, etc...), then you may remove the disk. The computer repair shop may notice that the disk is unavailable but if you tell them in advance, they'll know to not remove references to it.

If the D drive is only a partition on the primary disk, you can't remove that as it is a portion of the disk, not a separate device.

below any Microsoft OS partitioning isn't a sturdy concept. It has strengthen right into a manner accessory to create multiple partitions on dwelling house windows machines because of fact smart OS try this. It does no good in any admire, it would not guard something, a virulent disease an infection will attack the two drives, and if the disk fails it loses the two drives. And anyplace you attempt to load courses, the biggest area of them, library data and registry entries would desire to bypass on the systemcontinual. so which you're greater suitable to do away with each thing from the D: power, then delete the partition. then you certainly can escalate the C: power to apply the loose area. below Vista or 7 that's frequently finished from the disk supervisor. On in the previous variations you could desire to seek for a partition supervisor to apply.

If D: is a seperate physical drive then you can remove it until your machine is repaired. If D: is a partion of the only drive in there then you can't.
C: has to be in a machine or it wont boot.
