I've been having probs with running a game, and I contacted support and they told me to lower my sound acceleration through dxdiag. So I went there and accidently slide the bar to no sound, and now I cant fix it. I went through the troubleshooter and it told me to go to the device manager, and properties and under usage to select enable. However, the useage bar is greyed out and cannot be selected. Does anyone know how to fix this? I cant play any sound now at all.

I bought a laptop HP dv6000t (15.4 inch display) without a graphics card so I could choose the right one.. I have Windows Vista Home Premium, Core 2 Duo 1.6GHz, and 2 GB RAM (533MHz) and want decent graphics. I play some games, but I'm not a gaming person, I was thinking about a GeForce 7400, but maybe step up to the GeForce 7600.. depending on the price, I want to spend $50 - $100, which card do you recommend (must be compatible)?

Is ebay a good place to buy?

Can anyone plaese tell me what am I doing wrong? I can't start Ati Catalyst Control Centre. I have a video board Radeon x550. I tried to plig a TV to computer and from there I started to have problems. I can't find anywhere the TV out setup (not even if I go to dislapy, advanced, etc). So I tried to acces Ati Catalyst Control Centre but it will not start. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, it, I tried repairing it.

I'm looking to buy a 1 GB USB flash drive memory stick but why is there such a difference in the pricing? There are Kingston Data ones for $8 and ScanDisk sells their's for $50. I understand a difference in price, but this is a huge difference. Surely the product does the same thing, right? Why the big difference? Which one should I buy?

Hi all,

I've currently got a Seagate ST380817AS 80GB SATA hard disk in one of my machines, which is starting to seem a bit noiser than it used to, so I've just bought another unit exactly the same with a view to RAID'ing them together in a mirror setup so that should the original disk fail, all will not be lost :).

My question is this: I'm assuming it's not enough to just plug both drives into my motherboard's RAID controller (my board is a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe) with one disk full of data and one empty - is there any procedure I should go through before connecting them? I have never used a RAID setup before so this is all new to me. It just seems a little high in expectation to hope that I could connect both disks and have the controller realise that one needed to be mirrored to the other. Do I have to back up the original drive, wipe them both, then connect them "fresh", or anything like that?

Any light that can be shed on this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks for reading!

Because I have played games on a P2 400Mhz computer, and it played great... But my computer is faster (P2 500Mhz), but it plays games slower... so I'm guessing the video card is more important than the CPU?

My main hard drive is corrupted and failing, so I'm looking to upgrade. My mobo is a little older, an Asus A7N266-VM/AA, but I don't have the money to upgrade that, as well. I have to upgrade my hard drive at this point, so I'm looking at the possibility of buying a Firewire controller card so I can get a Firewire hard drive. I'm looking for speed and capacity. I will be running Linux/XP and will probably get an external as opposed to an internal. Should I stay with the standard for my mobo, IDE, or try to upgrade with a controller card? If I do, which kind would be best for a descent price?

I am building a pc, a whopper. LOL I have three hard drives I want to put in this tower making it a whopping 200 GB hard drive. How do I do this though, has anyone done it before. I have placed one of the hard drives in the tower and just get a blue screen what am I doing wrong?

I got this laptop about a couple of months ago and it has 1 of ram and is a duo core processer.
I am new to computers , but I thought it was suppose to be fast!

I have cleaned out my registry, I have defragmented my hard drive, I have run spyware, I have run virus scan, I dont know what else?!

I have a wireless router set up, could it be that my router signal is coming to conflict with other routers?

It runs very fast at times, but sometimes, I want to throw the damn thing out in the street!!

If we take the Nvidia GeForse FX 5200 128Mb & the same with 256Mb what will it improove in a game for the graphics or perfomance & speed of the game all the stuff
For exampl Need for Speed Carbon works fine with the FX5200 but some options are disabled like the shading & the road reflections. if i had the 256Mb one will it enable them or not?

I don't know why. I know I have not the right commands. I know my my knowledge of DOS is only in part. I try: (I type this on ntfs)

c:\format i try c\driveformat,,,,,, I try: c:\drive\format

It's an old machine, No matter what i do, it just wont format, any ideas?
