I'm trying to make my old internal hard drive an external one by putting it in an enclosure. which side are they measuring. my drive measures 4 in x 5.75 in and .75 thick. so which size enclosure will work for mine? It is Maxtor model 34098h4 if anyone know what that means.

One of my DVD+RW disks suddenly went bad. I used it for several months, then suddenly a zero byte file named "Non-Allocatable Space" appeared. I reformatted the disk, and its properties show 4.7GB of used space and zero bytes of free space.

I have erased and formatted several times with no success. I moved my data on to a new DVD+RW disk without problems. Why did my first disk go bad?
Can I return the disk to the manufacturer and claim that it was defective? I think Memorex disks have a lifetime warranty.

I'm using Win XP with InCD 4.3.0.5.
Thanks.

I'm not getting any sound from my computer and I really think it is a hardware problem, not software. A few people suggested that I just get a new sound card, but I'm afraid to open my computer and try to install it. I think I might mess something up simply because I've never done that before. Besides, I wouldn't even know which one to buy. So my question is, can I get an external sound card and just hook it up to a USB port? That would be so much easier and harder to mess something else up.

when I installed the installation cd I got a message telling me that I have a new version of XP installed and it can't install from CD. The only thing I can think of it might be is SP2, but I can get that back after reinstalling.. So how do I bypass this message and start over again?

My new laptop, an HP Pavilion dv1000 has wireless internet capabilities. The guy at the store told me there would be everything I needed to set that up. But apparently not because after we spend all this money I find out we have to have a wireless router to hook up to the DSL Box. The cheapest I can find one for is 40.00... Does anyone think this is a good price, or are there better deals?

I have searched for this information through conventional search engines, and failed. The Univac CP-642B was a military computer; it was also known as the Univac 1206B. It was originally designed in the 1950s, but was used at least through the 1970s when I worked with it in the Navy.
