In Windows it is pretty easy.
Open Internet Explorer, from the Menu at the top of the page select “Tools”, then select “Internet Options” at the bottom of the drop-down menu. A pop-up menu opens up, usually with the General tab selected. If not then select “General.” In the middle of the box under “Temporary Internet Files.” There is a button “Delete Cookies” press that button and the job is done. However, you will delete ALL your cookies, which includes; your personal settings on your favorite Internet Sites, all the passwords, for Internet Sites, which you have saved on the computer and some other data.
I prefer to delete some cookies. If you delete the ones that are important to you then you will have to re-enter the data, but usually those cookies are going to have the same name as the website involved. Deleting your cookies will NOT clear out your Yahoo account, or your points on Yahoo! Answers.
Open Windows Explorer, by going to the desktop and clicking on My Computer, then select the C: drive. Then go to the Documents and Settings” Folder.” Select the file for the person that uses the machine, if you have it set up for multiple users. Normally you don’t so you want to go to the “Administrator” folder. Then open the “Cookies” folder. You can individually select any cookie and delete it. You can select a broad span of cookies by selecting one and then dropping down to the last in that section and while holding down on the shift key, click that file. You can also select multiple files by holding down on the control key as you select them. You can send these cookies to the Trash Can, by Right Clicking on the mouse and selecting the Delete option. The advantage of this method is that the cookies will be in the Trash Can until you empty it. So if you forgot a password or lost some settings then you can recover the cookie. Just visit your favorite websites and see what happens.
A cookie is only a text file, and a pretty small one at that. It is NOT possible to put a virus in a cookie. If you did the virus just wouldn’t run; it is only a text file. Too many cookies can clog up your computer and slow your Internet surfacing. Cookies are use by some web sites to track you. This is how the company Double Click makes its living. They track where a user goes and sell that data to interested companies. To get rid of Double Click you need some anti-spyware, like Spybot Search and Destroy: http://www.spybot.info/en/mirrors/index.html.
It is free, and the author updates it, just select a mirror site. You should run a scan after 100-200 journeys on the Internet. I usually only do it once or twice a month. And I do a lot of surfing.

It's really easier to just go to My Computer, click on the C: drive, and then Documents and Settings, then your name. There will be a folder there called Cookies. Open it, and then select "Edit" and then "Select All", then delete them that way.
Why is it easier? Because, if this is something you do often, you can right-click on the Cookies folder, and tell Windows to send a shortcut to your desktop. You can then delete them anytime you want, with just a few steps.
