Transferring Video Clips To Imac?
I have a JVC MG20 HDD camcorder and i need help successfully transferring and playing on my imac. I have managed to transfer to my hard disk as per the mac imovie help list but when i drag a file to imovie, i get this error message."The file could not be imported: The file “Macintosh HD/MOV00E.MOD” can’t be imported; QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -2048" I have tried changing it to .Mov as someone suggested but still no joy!! ANY TIPS????

Did you check the support section of JVC's website for this camcorder for a OS X import utility program? They will often have a small program that will pull the footage from the camcorder and put it on your computer in .mov or .mpeg format.

Unfortunately, some camcorder makers use weird, non-standard encoding schemes in their products. It's JVC's fault, not Apple.

Addendum:
Did it come with a CD. Specs says it records in MPEG-2 so that should work fine. Sounds like there is a program they supply called 'Pixela Capty MPEG Edit' which might be on the CD that came with it.

As stated above It definitely sounds codec based.

Have you tried installing flip4mac? - If it needs converting then you need to install ffmpegX & re-encode

OR try renaming the file as an .mpg (as it looks like an mpeg2 file.)

Now if you want the really bad news...
