Go to start-run and type in msconfig then click ok. a screen opens up and there is startup tab go into there and uncheck the stuff you don't want to start when you re-boot. Make sure you know what you want to turn off and use caution because it may stop some programs from working but you can usually go back in and re-check the box if you do turn off something you didn't mean to. I assume you are asking because your computer is running slowly and you want to speed it up.

What about it?

Same startup as win98 (the startup disk that is) I've assumed thats what you were asking about;

You're question is rather vague and therefore difficult to answer.

Yes, that you need to do as I did, on that older PII or PIII, and make it all run 8X faster, by installing http://pclinuxos.com that you can run on the CDROM as a live CD and if you like it, you click the 'Install' icon!
