My new laptop, an HP Pavilion dv1000 has wireless internet capabilities. The guy at the store told me there would be everything I needed to set that up. But apparently not because after we spend all this money I find out we have to have a wireless router to hook up to the DSL Box. The cheapest I can find one for is 40.00... Does anyone think this is a good price, or are there better deals?

$40 is a reasonable price, However, I've seen many Mail-in rebate offers that reduce the price to half, some even FREE!

Unless you're in a real hurry, I suggest you check the Ads in your local Sunday paper or go to a Router's company website and check for rebates\discounts.

I bought a DLink DI-524 wireless router and a DWL-G120 USB Wireless Adpater.

Got BOTH for ONLY $15 after rebates and sale price!

I bought mine for $25 on http://www.ebay.com

I bought a linksys and I have used it for 4 years now and never had any problems with it.

I think the average price is about $40 so its a pretty good deal. If you can get a wireless 802.11g router, then $40 is a steal.

40.00 is a very good price for a wireless access point. Remember to do some encryption from your access point so neighbors don't get into your network too easily

Anywhere between 30 and 50 is a decent price for a router. I would say go for it!

I highly recommend Linksys. It might be a little more expensive but it's definitely a good product. You can find it at tigerdirect.com(link below)
