I have a JVC MG20 HDD camcorder and i need help successfully transferring and playing on my imac. I have managed to transfer to my hard disk as per the mac imovie help list but when i drag a file to imovie, i get this error message."The file could not be imported: The file “Macintosh HD/MOV00E.MOD” can’t be imported; QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -2048" Any tips????

I think the extension (.xxx) should be .mov not .mod . Was that a typo? If not, try changing that extension. How exactly did you transfer? I think the best way is to connect via firewire and import from within iMovie. I have a DV camera and that's what I do. I'm not sure if it's different with a HDD.

Try renaming to .mpg instead.
