To put music on your PC you need to have a connection between the tape player and the PC. Then a program that will Rip music.

You probably have two RCA out jacks on the cassette player; these jacks are fed by two wires. They end in a plug with a round cylindrical tip and a series of flanges on the perimeter. One is colored white and the other is red. If you have a good sound card then you will have similar jacks on the back of your computer. In that case you can pick up some RCA wire at Radio Shack and connect your tape player to your computer. If you are not fortunate to have these jacks at the back of your computer then you may have to make a jack, and feed it into the Microphone Jack. This would probably not be in stereo though, so you may have to upgrade your sound card.

For a Ripping program I recommend WinAmp 5.0: http://www.winamp.com/player/
You will need to buy the Pro version for $19.95, because it is the only version that will let you Rip Songs. Install the program and let it put a shortcut on your desktop.

Once the program is installed open the help file: http://winamp.com/support/help/50/Winamp5.htm
Go to the section on Ripping CDs and read it. You are recording tapes, but the principle is the same: you are feeding the music into the PC. Open WinAmp and turn on the tape player. Open the equalizer (CTR-G), if it is not already open. You should see the equalizer reacting to the tape being played. If not then you may need specialist help. Go to a computer store like Frys, Microcenter, or Best Buy and go where the sound cards and computer speakers are being sold then ask them for their advice.

Mmmm, People. a JVC GR-D290 is a MINI DV CAMCORDER...

NOT an AUDIO CASSETTE RECORDER.

Anyway, to connect your camcorder to your computer it will depend on your camcorder's output capabilities as well as your computer's INPUT capavilities.

Either using RCA PHONO Jacks or SVideo connections. you'll need to check both your camcorder and computer's video card's connections.
