Just now my notebook, a Dell Inspiron 1300, won't start up Windows (XP, Home Edition) with a blue screen, saying the following:
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
........................", further it shows a technical info:
***STOP: 0x000000ED (0x83388618, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
On this screen, there are no option besides the on/off button, and after turning it off and back on, the computer will come back to this screen every time.
I've got some good computer "mileage", but this goes beyond my knowledge and scares me, what the heck happened??

I'm buying a laptop computer.

I'm torn between these two brands because I think they are the most reliable.

Which one is more reliable overall?

Hi, my laptop mousepad won't let me scroll. I posted a question earlier and received advice to go to control panel, click on mousepad and see if the scroll bar was turned on, which I did. After clicking on the mouse icon, the above message was received. Stuck again, any direction is greatly appreciated.

I got an hp notebook. And im going to go buy memory for it. It has pc2700 333mhz 256. If i mix the 256 infineon ram with a different brand 512 ram. How bad is it? Its slow already with only 256. Just mixing it will it still improve speed. Upgrading ram how much difference would it make. Any improvements? And the brand transcend is it any good? Compare to other brands. Details: Hp ze2000 (ze2309nr) pc2700 333mhz 200 pin ddr 256 ram infineon. Deciding to buy 512 ram different brand

I bought it in 2000 for a little over a thousand dollars. It is a Toshiba Satellite laptop with a 1 ghz intel celeron processor. It has 64 MB memory and a 15.4 in screen. It has Windows XP, a DVD player, and a modem. I have all of the disks that came with it. Battery life is about 2.5 hours. It still works very well, only has a small scratch in the screen on the lower corner. The floppy drive needs repair.

I just got an IBM thinkpad T23 and cannot get my USB mouse to work. I had an HP and there was a button to "turn off mouse pad" on the laptop in order to use an external mouse, but I can't find a similar button. The devices are all working properly, the mouse has power, any ideas?

Okay, here's the deal. I got my laptop from repair the other day...everything was working fine. But, whenever i restart my system...all my updates, downloads, files are gone :S like it never exsisted. So i create normal files, do the normal stuff, and restart. It's all gone!
When the computer is switching on and loading, it says: Setting Personalised information or something, at one corner then a tour to XP blabla. Like it's brand new :s. i am the administrator of the pc. Please assist me in this matter.

I'm using a IBM Thinkpad T40 laptop, and my battery dries up pretty quickly in less than maybe half an hour when it is unplugged.

I doubt that normal batteries would last this short.

What is the cause of this short battery life span?

Is it because i usually left my laptop charged/plugged-in the whole day even if its at 100%? Is that the reason my laptop couldn't last itself without the adapter?

Boy that would mount up my electricity bill.

Or perhaps one reasonable explanation could be that I've been playing games n streaming videos while it is unplugged, that's why i burns out more battery usage than usual.

Help me point out more possibilities.

Thanks!
