Hi, my laptop mousepad won't let me scroll. I posted a question earlier and received advice to go to control panel, click on mousepad and see if the scroll bar was turned on, which I did. After clicking on the mouse icon, the above message was received. Stuck again, any direction is greatly appreciated.

What would have made the scroll bar stop working since I never changed any settings?

The synaptics pointing device is the touchpad and the scroll pad associated with it.

Most windows versions have a generic driver for the touchpad, but to get advanced options such as scrolling, you will need to download the drivers for the device.

Go to the manufacturers website under support and downloads and download the driver for your particular model computer.

The answer given to you about the drivers is a good place to start.

If replacing the driver does not correct the issue it is possible the cable between your touch pad and the board inside your computer has become disconnected in which case you will need some hardware assistance.
